Experienced journalist Peter Brookes is currently a senior lecturer in journalism at Staffordshire University and managing director of his own sports rights and media consultancy, Brookes Media Ltd.

A member of the national Sports Writers’ Association, Peter was from 1999-2006 managing director of Manchester United Television – the world’s first club TV channel (jointly owned by Manchester United, BSkyB and Granada Television), which he guided into profitability and worldwide acclaim.

Peter started his career at the Birmingham Post & Mail Group before becoming head of news at Beacon Radio in the Black Country, head of Birmingham Live TV (the city’s first TV service), and night news editor on the Today newspaper.

His broadcasting career has also included roles as duty editor at TV-am, news editor at Central TV and Meridian TV and editor at Channel One TV, which operated a specialist news and sports service for London.
