Membership and its privileges

For full-time working journalists, membership of the Press Club is £15. 

To be eligible for this, an applicant must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Be employed wholly or part time in a journalistic capacity by a recognised media organisation i.e. newspaper or magazine publisher or broadcast organisation.
  • Obtain at least 50 per cent of their earned annual income from journalism.
  • Hold a recognised accredited vocational journalistic qualification i.e. NCTJ or NCE.
  • Be a current member of the National Union of Journalists.
  • Have an active blog page.

For all retired journalists, membership of the Press Club is £5.

For Student Journalists, membership of the Press Club is £5.

To be eligible for this, an applicant must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Be a full-time student on a recognised journalism or media course.
  • Be on a recognised apprenticeship scheme in the print or broadcast industry.
  • Be a Member of the NUJ. 

For those who do not meet the above criteria, membership of the Press Club is £25.
